Why does my Mac not detect my Android phone?

When you connect your Android phone to your computer, you need to perform this little dance in order for the computer (and Salling Media Sync) to recognize your phone:

Press and drag in the notification area (on your phone), and select "USB Connected". The phone then asks if you want to "Mount" or "Don't mount". Select "Mount" to have the SD-card mount on the Desktop.
